The mentor behind the swing

William Davies spent three decades leading teams and a lifetime learning from golf. Growth Station is where those two worlds meet.

30 yrs

Of leadership experience on and off the course.

I learned the most important business lessons on a golf course.

For thirty years I led teams, closed deals and carried targets. I was successful by every measure except the one that mattered: I rarely felt in control of my own game.

Golf changed that. It taught me that you cannot force a good swing. You prepare, you breathe, you commit, and you accept the result honestly. When I brought that discipline into my work and my home life, everything steadied.

Today I help leaders do the same. We do not chase shortcuts. We build a repeatable way of thinking so you can reach your personal par and keep playing well for years.

A career played one hole at a time

1994

The boardroom years

William begins his career in corporate leadership. He learns how pressure, speed and ambition can quietly crowd out clarity.

2003

The first real lesson

A late-night round of golf shows him that the same habits that lower a score also steady a career: preparation, patience and honest self-review.

2012

Leading at scale

He guides large teams through mergers and restructures, and starts mentoring younger leaders on the side.

2019

Growth Station begins

William turns his mentoring into a full practice for leaders who want results without burning out.

Today

5,000+ leaders later

The philosophy: four principles from the fairway

Every programme at Growth Station rests on the same four ideas.

1

Know your target

Every good round starts with a clear flag. We define what success means to you before choosing a single club.

2

A precision swing

Small, repeatable habits beat dramatic effort. We refine your tempo until good form becomes automatic.

3

Navigate life's hazards

Bunkers, water and rough are part of the course. We plan around them and recover calmly when you land in one.

4

Play the long game

Eighteen holes reward patience. We measure progress across the whole round, not one bad shot.

Golf is a mirror for how you live and lead

The course shows you how you handle pressure, patience and your own expectations. We use that mirror, on and off the green.
